The Best Bay Area Employers program shines a spotlight on local employers who provide strong, healthy workplaces in the communities we serve. Bay Area News Group, in partnership with Data Joe, LLC, offers a free assessment through a quick, statistically valid and anonymous employee survey.
The Best Employers program recruits employers, assists them through the survey process, and creates the list of top-ranking companies. Participation in the program is free.

Nominations are open for the 2023 Bay Area News Group Best Bay Area Employer awards. Any organization with 5 or more employees in the Bay Area is eligible for consideration, whether public, private, nonprofit, government, even schools. Any type of employer is welcome to enter, as long as it has employees in Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Solano and San Mateo counties.
Bay Area employers are evaluated by their employees using a simple, yet, comprehensive survey. Companies will be surveyed anytime from August 2022 through February 2023. Data Joe, LLC is our research partner for the project.
There is no cost to enter the program. Winning companies will be grouped by size (small, medium, large, extra large) and featured in a special edition of The Mercury News and East Bay Times. They will also be honored at a special event.
This is the 13th year of running a company recognition program and the first year under the Best Employers brand with our new research partner, Data Joe, LLC.
